Learning Management System

Frequently Asked Questions

3. What are the recommended browsers for the LMS?

The recommended browsers are Chrome (unless otherwise specified) as well as Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge if you’re on a PC and Safari if you’re on a Mac.

4. Where can I start learning how to use the LMS?

We recommend that you begin your learning adventure by watching our introductory video so you can familiarize yourself with the interface. Find the video in the Getting Started channel in the dashboard.

5. How do I update my profile’s time zone?

To manage your profile’s time zone, please follow the steps listed below. 1. Click on the main menu ( ) on the upper left corner of the page. 2. 6. How do I choose which learning activities to enroll in?

Before you start your learning process, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the Training Paths and the Training Course Catalog in the Learner Library. This is where you will learn the recommended order of the classes and the previous knowledge required to successfully complete each training. Please work with your manager to determine the best learning plan for you.

7. How do pre-requisites work?

We want to make sure that our learning activities are flexible enough to fulfill your training needs. You may take the courses in any order and you may take an assessment that is the equivalent to a class, however, please be mindful of the suggested order and the recommended pre-requisites listed in the Training Paths and the Training Course Catalog in the Learner Library. This will help avoid enrolling in a class that you are not prepared for, which can result in an unsuccessful training experience for you and for the other learners.

8. What types of training materials and course delivery methods are available?

The offerings are modular and topic-based. This allows participants to learn in digestible chunks without taking too much time away from their work. The types of learning activities and delivery methods that you will find in the LMS are described next. Please view the images on the dashboard which, along with a name extension, appear next to each activity to help you identify the delivery method. E-learning On demand. The recorded version of a course. VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) Scheduled. A course that is delivered by a trainer. It involves student participation. The training is virtual. You attend the session by following the log in instructions provided by the trainer close to the session date. ILT (Intructor-Led Training) Scheduled. A course that is delivered by a trainer. It involves student participation. The training is in person, in a classroom. You attend the session by going to the room where the class is being delivered. Webinar Scheduled. An activity in which a trainer or a presenter delivers content. The training is virtual. You attend the session by following the log in instructions provided by the presenter close to the session date. Assessment On demand. A way to test your knowledge of a class’ content. The system will not prompt you to take an assessment after you complete a course, you will be able to open the assessments on your own. Learning Kit On demand. A package designed to take you through all the course content, including hands-on practice. They are self-paced, so you may start and stop the course as needed.

Please be aware that the session time will be in your profile’s time zone.

10. Why don’t I see any dates when I try to enroll on an ILT / VILT / webinar session?

If you don’t see any dates listed after you click on the name of the activity or on the ENROLL button, it means that there are currently no scheduled sessions for that course at the moment. Please check back later because we regularly update our schedule. The easiest way to find out what is scheduled at the moment is to look at the Course Calendar in the dashboard. This widget will display all the upcoming sessions available. Please keep in mind that we also offer several on-demand options like e-learnings and learning kits.

11. How do I switch to a different ILT / VILT / webinar session?

To enroll in a different session than the one you had originally enrolled in, please follow the steps listed below. This can only be done if there was more than one session available for a course. Current session Cancels the registration from the session of the course, but not from the course. 4. Check “Yes, I want to proceed”. 5. Click CONFIRM. An email notification will be sent to confirm that you have cancelled your registration.

13. What’s the difference between an activity, a course and a session?

We refer to all of our training offerings as learning activities. This term encompasses different delivery methods and course formats. The course is the ILT or VILT learning activity that defines the name of the training, the contents that will be covered and the delivery method. A course can have one or more sessions. Some courses may not have an upcoming scheduled session. The sessions refer to the specific moment in time when the content of the course is being delivered by a trainer, whether the delivery method is virtual or in person. A session has a date, a start time and an end time. To register for a session, please check the course calendar to find out what is available and then follow the steps listed on the How do I enroll in a training session? section.

14. How do I find the scheduled ILT / VILT / webinar sessions?

The Course Calendar widget at the bottom of the dashboard displays all the scheduled sessions, organized per month. By clicking on the bubbles on the calendar you can read the full name of the course and the details about the session. From there, you can click on the name to go to the enroll page.

15. What do I do if the dates and times of the scheduled sessions don’t work for me?

We have a lot of on-demand training materials that you can use, such as e-learnings and learning kits. This will prevent you from having to wait until the course is scheduled at a time that is convenient for you. If there’s something that you need but you do not see as an on-demand activity, please inform the training team.

16. Why am I on the waitlist for a course?

You could have been placed on the waiting list of a scheduled training due to the following scenarios: • If the maximum enrollment capacity is met. • If a user has enrolled into a webinar or a course but did not choose a session while enrolling.

17. What is a learning kit?

A learning kit is an on demand learning activity. The course is made up of video lessons that cover the same content taught in our instructor-led classes. You can log in to the system for self-paced hands-on practice as you watch the videos. You may start and stop the course as needed.

18. How do I enroll in an e-learning / learning kit / assessment?

To enroll in an on demand activity, please follow the steps listed below. These instructions apply to e-learnings, learning kits and the assessments that are separate learning activity. The assessments that are built in to another activity are described in the next two sections. 1. Locate the learning activity that you want to enroll in. 2. Click the name of the activity or the ENROLL button next to the name. 3. Click ENROLL. 4. Click START LEARNING NOW if you want to launch the activity immediately or navigate away and come back to the activity later. Note: The recommended browsers are Chrome (unless otherwise specified), as well as Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge if you’re on a PC and Safari if you’re on a Mac.

19. What do I do if I finished a video but my status did not update to “completed”?

Probably, the video was not closed out properly and that’s why the status did not get updated. You can open it and close it again by clicking on the X on the upper right corner of the player. If this does not update your status, please contact the training team.

20. How do I complete an assessment that is built into a training session or webinar?

To take an assessment that is built into a training session or a webinar, please follow the steps listed below. 1. Locate the learning activity that has a built in assessment. 2. Click the name of the course or the START button next to the name. 3. Click CONTENT. 4. Click on the name of the assessment name to launch the test. 5. Click BEGIN THE TEST. 6. Select the answers that you think are correct. 7. Click SUBMIT (TEST COMPLETED). To be marked as completed from a training or a webinar that has a built in assessment, you must pass the test with a score of at least 80%. You may retake the assessment as many times as needed.

24. Why are the trainings that I took through Education Express not on my transcript?

We are starting our journey on this new LMS with a clean slate. The first time you log in, the Courses section in the My Activities page will be empty. As you start using this portal to manage your learning process, the record of your activities will appear. You are not obligated to re-take anything but we would like to invite you to look at the Training Paths and the Training Course Catalog in the Learner Library to review the content of the learning activities. If you need to brush up on something or refresh your memory, you can re-take a course or re-take an assessment.

25. Is there a certification program?

At the moment, there is not a certification program. We do have assessments as a way to test your knowledge of a course’s content.

26. Can I take an assessment without having first completed the course?

Yes, you can. If you think you already know the contents covered in a specific course, you have the option to take the assessment instead of the course. This only applies to assessments that are a separate learning activity, not the assessments that are built into a course. In order to pass you must score 80% or above.

27. I work in Sales but I can’t see the dashboard specific to my department. How do I fix that?

This can happen when the incorrect department is listed in your Okta profile. To correct your department in Okta, please follow the steps below. 1. Open the Okta home page. 2. You should now see the Sales dashboard.

28. I’m a manager and a new hire is joining my team. How do I get them trained?

Your new team members will be able to manage their own registration through the LMS: We recommend that they begin by reviewing the content in the Getting Started channel on the dashboard. Please review the Training Paths and the Training Course Catalog in the Learner Library to determine which learning activities you will new the new team member to complete.

29. I’m a manager. How do I run a report on my team’s learning activities?

As we wait for a new HRIS system to be implemented, you will not be able to run reports for your entire team. Instead, each individual employee can check their transcript.
